Caterham appoints new CEO

The Caterham F1 team has appointed Cyril Abiteboul as CEO responsible for the team's on and off track operations.

Abiteboul is currently deputy MD of Renault Sport F1 and will dovetail his duties there with his new Caterham position until he joins the Leafield-based team full time in January 2013.

Abiteboul will report to chairman Tony Fernandes and group CEO Riad Asmat, who will now be able to devote more of his time to wider Caterham group activities.

"Cyril will strengthen the excellent relationship that we have with Renault," Ferndes said, "particularly as we work towards the introduction of the new engine regulations in 2014, when engines will play an even greater roll in overall car performance."
