No action against Red Bull

The Red Bull RB8s of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber will start the German GP from their respective qualifying positions, second and eighth after a five place exhaust change penalty respectively. FIA stewards have taken no further action subsequent to technical delegate Jo Bauer's report (see separate story).

In Bauer's opinion, Red Bull were in breach of Article 5.5.3 of the F1 techical regulations and a technical directive.

Just over an hour before the race start time, however, the stewards (Paul Gutjahr, Tim Mayer, Detlef Kramp and Derek Warwick) issued the following statement:

"The Stewards received a report from the FIA Technical Delegate, along with specific ECU data from Red Bull Racing cars 1 and 2. The Stewards met with the team representatives and the representative of the engine supplier, Renault.

"While the stewards do not accept all the arguments of the team, they however conclude that as the regulation is written, the map presented does not breach the text of Art 5.5.3 of the Formula One Technical Regulations and therefore decide to take no further action."
