Silverstone's new pit complex makes progress

The British GP organisers announced Tuesday that the construction of the new pit and paddock facilities are well underway.

The new complex is due to be completed for 2011 and include new garages, media centre, race control building along with hospitality and VIP areas, and paddock.

Silverstone's managing director Richard Phillips said, "These new facilities, and the redevelopment of Silverstone at large, will provide a venue where all forms of automotive and motor sport events can be celebrated in style. The state-of-the-art Stowe Complex will further enhance our offering to manufacturers, corporations and brands involved in motor sport, while the Pit and Paddock Complex will deliver a new mix of facilities that will bring Silverstone into the 21st Century. Our intention is to transform the venue into a world leading centre for education, business, leisure and technology. It is vital that we continue to diversify as a business to make sure that the UK remains at the forefront of the motor sport industry."
