Stefan GP forced to cancel test

Serbian backed Stefan GP have been forced to cancel a planned test at the Algarve track, in Portugal, because of a lack of tyres.

The team, led by Zoran Stefanovic, is trying to secure an entry into the Formula One World Championship, but Bridgestone, the official tyre supplier to the series, is only contracted to supply teams who have entries - so was unwilling to provide tyres for the test.

There is much speculation that the team's backing from the Serbian government is contingent on the team first securing an entry into the series. Should this be the case Stefanovic's only hope seems to be linked to buying an entry from Team US F1, as the American team has already admitted it won't be able to take part in the first four races of the season, as the possibility of the FIA opening the championship to a 14th entry are remote.
