Loeb wants Bourdais's Toro Rosso

Multiple World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb made some headlines on Saturday when he expressed an interest in replacing fellow countryman Sebastien Bourdais in Formula 1.

Loeb's WRC programme this year is not easy with Ford's Mikko Hirvonen now ahead. Loeb has little to prove in rallying, having won five consecutive titles.

He tested impressively for STR sister team Red Bull Racing at Barcelona last November and has recently spent time at the Red Bull factory in Milton Keynes.

“If Toro Rosso need a driver I’d love to help out,” Loeb told France's sports daily newspaper L’Equipe. “I’ve heard talk of this possibility and I’d race instead of Sebastien Bourdais. Who knows, as long as the Formula 1 and rallying calendars don’t overlap anything is possible. If there is a place at Toro Rosso, I’m available.”
