Nakajima goes fastest

The final day of the Jerez testing, with only two teams still running, resulted in Kazuki Nakajima going fastest of the week with a best of 1m17.494s, which was seven-tenths quicker than the fastest time set by Jenson Button's Brawn earlier in the week. Heikki Kovalainen was present for McLaren and was also able to lap in the same bracket as Button, with a best of 1m17.946s. Whether these times are significant or the track conditions had improved dramatically remains to be seen. The teams are now all packing up and the freight is on the way to Australia. Pure qualifying pace is an indicatiomn of performance, but the race pace is also very important as the new tyres are tending to go off quickly and the lap times drop off dramatically. According to those who are analysing these things, the Brawn is still the strongest package, but we will see when the field comes together with all the latest bits and pieces on the cars in Melbourne.
