De la Rosa tests for Force India

There are reports in the Spanish media that McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa will be signed to race for the Force India F1 team in 2009. De la Rosa tested a Force India car today, in an effort to see the potential of the current chassis. This is presumably feedback that will help Mclaren to see if there are things that can be done to improve the performance of the Silverstone team. McLaren may not be able to build a customer car for Force India but there is nothing to stop the team providing ideas for the Force India designers and aerodynamicists.

De la Rosa is acknowledged to be a very good test driver and while the excitable Spanish media might like the idea of him racing next year, it seems rather unlikely as at 37 he is a little old to be battling with the youngsters. It is more likely if there is to be a change at Force India that the deal would go to another driver with McLaren links, such as Paul di Resta.
