The talented folk of Formula 1

Dominic Smith, a team leader in the aerodynamic design group at Honda Racing F1 is to perform with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at London’s Royal Festival Hall in February 2009.

Smith studied aeronautics at Imperial College, London, before joining the UK based racecar constructor G-Force as an aerodynamicist for the company’s American Indy Racing League cars. In 2001 he joined Honda Racing.

Smith was also a talented pianist, however, and won a scholarship to study at Trinity College of Music in London where he continued until A-levels. In November 2007 he won the final of the Pianists Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, presented by musical instrument maker Yamaha and UK radio station Classic FM.
