Queens recognises racing champions

Queen Elizabeth II"s annual Birth Honours List in Britain has rewarded John Surtees, the former F1 World Champion and multiple motorcycle racing champion with the status of an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, Surtees won his title back in 1964 but has had to wait until the age of 74 for recognition. Surtees ran his own Formula 1 team and more recently ran the British team in the A1GP Series.

The British government has also recognised the achievements of triple World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx, with his appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
