The sale of F1 teams

There has been much talk in recent months of the possible sale of several of the F1 teams but despite all the talk there is no real sign of any action. The talk of Super Aguri F1 being bought by Alejandro Agag seems to be considerably wide of the mark and Dietrich Mateschitz is once again saying that there is no intention at the moment to sell Scuderia Toro Rosso, although he tell Kleine Zeitung that in F1 one can "never say never".

The sale of both teams seemed to be dependent on the ability for teams to use customer cars and as this is now only going to be an option for 2009 and 2010 after which everyone must once again be a constructor, the only way forward is to try to invest in at least some of the machinery that is needed so that there is no question that each team is building its own cars.

It is no secret that the cost of such an investment cannot at the moment be seen as a logical thing to do. Only those who are using F1 to sell other products are really in a position to make such an investment.
