Speedcar getting ready for the off

The Speedcar Series will kick off in a few days in Dubai and the organisers have lined up an interesting field for the inaugural season. There will be 14 cars taking part in the first race with the entry headed by former F1 star Jean Alesi. He will be joined by Johnny Herbert, Stefan Johansson, Narain Karthikeyan, Ukyo Katayama and Gianni Morbidelli. Among the opposition will be Fabien Giroix, a top touring car racer a few years back who has not been seen much in recent years and David Terrien, once one of the biggest stars in karting who failed to make the leap to success in single-seaters. He has been racing sports cars in France in recent years. The 620-horsepower cars which have been specially built in the United States for the new series are expected to give audiences in the Middle East and Asia an idea of the excitements of NASCAR.
