Singtel named as title sponsor for Singapore GP

Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) has signe dup to be the sponsor for the Singapore Grand Prix. The event will be officially known as the SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. The company, which dates back to 1879 when Singapore became one of the first cities in the Orient to have a telephone service, was a government monopoly before being listed on the stock exchange. It is one of Singapore's largest companies. It has 124m customers from its own operations and regional associates. It is involved in fixed phone, mobile, internet and pay-TV services. Singtel is still controlled by the government via its Temasek Holdings investment company.
