Danica hits the top spot

Danica Patrick set the pace in the opening day of the second week of practice for the Indianapolis 500, lapping the Speedway at 221.189mph, ahead of Target Chip Ganassi's Scott Dixon and Penske's Sam Hornish Jr. Patrick's Andretti Green Racing teammates Marco Andretti and Dario Franchitti completed the top runners. Patrick has already qualified eighth for the race.

This week's activity consists of the major runners setting up their cars for the event while there are still 11 slots left at the tail of the grid. The field is still growing with Roger Yasukawa, Jimmy Kite, PJ Jones and John Andretti all joining the fight in recent days. Andretti is to drive the third car for Panther Racing.
