Dixon and Danica get going at Indianapolis

With practice winding up at Indianapolis Scott Dixon has moved to the top of the speeds recorded with a fastest lap of 226.473mph in his Target Chip Ganassi car, but he was only a fraction faster than Danica Patrick, who has found more speed in her Andretti Green entry and was the fastest of the five team cars at 226.358mph. Behind her were Dan Wheldon (Target Chip Ganassi), who set a best of 226.206mph, Tomas Scheckter (226.161), Ryan Briscoe 225.995 and Marco Andretti 225.881.

Pole position last year was set by Penske's Sam Hornish Jr at 228.985mph, although the fastest qualifying time recorded at the speedway remains Arie Luyendyk's 236.986mph in 1996, when the rules were somewhat different.
