Testing in Malaysia

The Formula 1 clans are gathering again, this time in Malaysia where there is a test this week prior to the Grand Prix there at the end of next week. The testing began on Tuesday with Robert Kubica setting the pace for BMW, with 92 laps of the track and a best time of 1m36.187s. This was a couple of tenths faster than the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen and the Williams of Alexander Wurz. There was then a half second gap back to Rubens Barrichello's Honda and the rest. As ever, testing times are not to be taken too seriously as the results are rarely reflected in what happens on race weekends.

It will be interesting to see how the various teams do in Malaysia as the order established in Melbourne may be slightly different at a different kind of circuit. Having said that, with everyone using the same tyres this year the variables are fewer than before.
