Melbourne honours Bernie

The annual Grand Prix Ball is a big event in Melbourne and this year the organisers decided to give Bernie Ecclestone a bit of a surprise and made a special presentation for Mr E, in recognition of his work in Melbourne and his 59 years in the racing business. State premier Steve Bracks presented Bernie and his wife Slavica with a pair of sterling silver bowls in recognition his his 12 yeears of work with the Grand Prix board.

Among the other guests at the event were drivers Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber and Christijan Albers, team principals Flavio Briatore, Nick Fry and Colin Kolles and racing legends Sir Jack Brabham and Sir Stirling Moss.
