Valles to join Spyker?

Spain's Adrian Valles, who has yet to do much in GP2, is tipped to be the man on the verge of being named as the Spyker test driver for 2007. If that turns out to be the case, there is little doubt that it was just a question of money, a situation which does not reflect awfully well on the team that is trying to build up its credibility. One might argue that pay-drivers are a necessary evil at the back end of the grid but the acceptance of that situation, while being pragmatic, is a clear indication that the team does not have as much money as it needs.

Valles had a decent karting career and switched to cars in 2001 but did not achieve much until he drove for Pons Racing in 2005 and finished runner-up to Robert Kubica in the Renault World Series. In 2006 he joined Campos Racing in GP2 but scored only nine points and finished 16th in the series.
