BMW confirms Glock test

BMW Sauber F1 Team will test Timo Glock at the end of the month in Barcelona and then in Jerez in mid-December. The 24-year-old German was due to test in September but that had to be delayed as Glock had injured his hand in the GP2 race at Monza and so the test had to be postponed. Glock may have missed the boat with BMW as the team has named Sebastian Vettel as its test driver for next year but Glock may be looking at the longer term as Vettel is under contract to Red Bull in 2009 and so there could be potential for him to slide into the role of BMW's third driver if it becomes clear that Red Vettel is going to take up its option on Vettel rather than letting him join BMW. Thus it may be that Glock will spend 2007 as BMW's second test driver.

It is worth noting that Honda was also interested in Glock but it seems that he was trying to keep both that and the BMW discussions going and Honda ran out of patience.
