Monty gets shunted

Juan Pablo Montoya was in action in an ARCA race at Iowa Speedway at the weekend and having started third moved into the lead after five laps and was leading the race on lap 19 when a misunderstanding resulted in him being punted into the wall by Steve Wallace - Rusty Wallace's son - who was following closely behind him.

The accident occurred when Montoya's spotter warned him that Wallace was going around the outside. Montoya thought the call was just a warning and to cover a move, he moved to the outside at the same moment as Wallace accelerated into the gap. The resulting contact shunted Montoya into the wall and his car suffered serious front end damage which took the crew 40 laps to fix.

Wallace got away without damage and went on to win the race.
