Get them young and train them
The FIA-CIK and the FIA Institute is to launch an anti-drug campaign entitled "Race True" at the forthcoming World Karting Championship meeting at Angerville, in France. The new campaign, which is being run in partnership with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is designed to ensure that racing remains untainted by drug scandals. In reality there is little that can be done cehmically to enhance the performance of a racing driver as most drugs that would help have unhelpful side-effects. There are however muscle-building steroids that may be used by those in search of more body strength and there have been suspicions over the years that one or two top names may have employed these to create muscle which they then maintain with constant exercise.
