The Renault F1 Team will participate as an interested party in the FIA International Court of Appeal hearing on August 22. The actually hearing will be between the FIA and its own stewards who decided at the German Grand Prix that the mass dampers on the Renault were legal. The FIA technical department had changed its mind and decided that the dampers, previously allowed, were no legal.

The bad news is that Renault cannot really win. The team took the mass dampers off the cars and struggled badly, scoring only a few points. Those points cannot be reinstated.

And it is going to be hard for the court to punish FIA officials.
