Peace about to be declared?
The whisper on Saturday at the Nurburgring was that there was a meeting on Saturday lunchtime at which the major teams informed Bernie Ecclestone that they are now in a position to agree to the new F1 regulations for 2008 and to a commercial deal. Those involved are currently not saying anything but if the rumours are correct we would expect to have an announcement within a matter of days.
The GPMA teams had agreed not to accept any deal unless they were all acting together and their goals had been achieved. With the commercial deal having changed considerably in comparison to the old Concorde Agreement and the technical rules being broadly acceptable, with compromises on both sides, it could be that F1 is now moving to a settlement which will allow the sport to go forward.
