GP Masters heading for Silverstone

GP Masters, the series which allows F1 stars of yesteryear to compete with one another in similar machinery is heading for Silverstone on August 12-13. The series kicked off last year in South Africa and is now planning to bring the show to Silverstone, hoping to revive the Mansell Mania that was around in the early 1990s.

The success of the series depends on there being a decent field of wellknown names and it will be interesting to see who decides to take part this year.

The problem that the organisers face is that if the cars are not entirely equal in performance drivers may not wish to be involved in case they damage their reputations. If there is a suspicion that one driver get more revs than the others, for example, the series could quickly lose support from the big names.

Some of the stars of yesteryear like the money on offer but the really big names do not have to worry about such things. It is their involvement which is key to the success of the show.
