F1 gets a permanent steward

The Formula 1 system of stewards is to change significantly in 2006 with the announcement that one steward will be at every race. The man chosen for that job is Britain's Tony Scott Andrews, who has been one of four permanent stewards in recent years. The decision has been taken to improve the consistency of the decision-making process, which has always been a problem. A similar system will exist in rallying with India's Nazir Hoosein being named as the permanent steward for the WRC.

Scott-Andrews is a lawyer by profession, he is also chairman of the UK Motor Sports Council's National Court and chairman of the Motor Sports Association Judicial Advisory Panel.
