Cheever returns to action

Eddie Cheever is to return to open-wheeler racer at the age of 48. The former F1 man who went on to win the Indianapolis 500 and run his own team in the Indy Racing League. The plan is for Cheever to take part in the early seasons races and the Indy 500. Cheever has not raced in the IRL since 2002.

Cheever Racing ran a two-car team in IRL last year but lost the support of Red Bull at the end of last season and has yet to confirm an entry beyond the four races planned for Cheever. The team seems to be concentrating more on running a car in the GrandAm series with backing from Crown Royal Special Reserve and in its team in the Indy Pro Series.
