No racers in Davos

The World Economic Forum at Davos in Switzerland featured a discussion on the subject of sport, for the first time in the 36-year history of the event. The panel chosen to discuss the subject were Joseph Blatter of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Brazilian soccer legend and former sports minister Pele, Jacques Rogge of the International Olympic Committee, David Stern, the commissioner of the National Basketball Association and Charles Denson of Nike.

There was no representation from motorsport, despite the fact that the sport is among the richest in the world. Among those attending the event are International Amateur Athletics Federation president Lamine Diack, Dick Pound, the head of the World Anti-Doping Agency and Larry Scott, chairman of the Women's Tennis Association.
