Winkelhock joins MF1
MF1Racing, the Formula 1 team owned and operated by the Midland Group has announced that 25-year-old Markus Winkelhock will be one of the team's official test drivers in 2006. Winkelhock, son of the late Formula 1 and sports car driver Manfred Winkelhock, tested for MF1 Racing in Jerez in December. The team has yet to make it clear who will be involved with testing the car on Fridays at Grands Prix but has said that Winkelhock will "participate in the driver line-up".
Winkelhock finished third in the last year's Renault World Series.
It is worth noting that the team has backing from Liqui Moly which funded the career of Manfred Winkelhock back in the 1980s.
This is proibably not a coincidence.
