Williams gets a new team manager

The Williams team will have a new team manager this season with the news that Dickie Stanford, who has been in the job for the last 11 years,is to take a sabbatical and assume a factory-based role rather than travelling all the time. Stanford is a highly experienced F1 player having been in the sport since he joined Williams in 1985 after working with Ralt in Formula 2. Stanford was Nigel Mansell's mechanic in 1985 and went on to become the team's chief mechanic in 1990 and replaced Ian Harrison as team manager at the end of 1994.

The job of team manager is to go to Tim Newton, who has been running the Williams test team since 1999 but it seems that Stanford will return at some point in the future.
