Andretti joins Andretti Green

As we suggested a few days ago, Marco Andretti, the 18-year-old son of Michael Andretti, has joined his father's team in the Indy Racing League. Marco will drive the ArcaEx Dallara-Honda which was previously driven by Dario Franchitti. The Scotsman will switch to the Jim Beam/Klien Tools car that won the title this year with Dan Wheldon. Tony Kanaan will continue to run in his 7-Eleven car and Bryan Herta will remain in his XM Satellite Radio car.

In addition Michael will make a one-off comeback at Indianapolis in a fifth car, sponsored by Jim Beam and Vonage. It will mark the first time since 1994 that a father and son combination have raced in the Indianapolis 500, the last occasion being when Michael was running alongside his father Mario.

"I think I'll have as good a shot as I've ever had to win the Indianapolis 500," Michael says. "And I think I can also be a big help to Marco as he gets ready to make his first 500 start."

The team will also be running a pair of cars in the Infiniti Pro Series with drivers Jaime Camara and Jonathan Klein.
