Vodafone cuts back with Man United
Vodafone has decided not to continue with its sponsorship of the shirts of the high-profile Manchester United soccer team. The deal was worth around $15m a year. Vodafone has however announced that it will be the official partner and official mobile network of the UEFA Champions League for the next three years. It is not clear whether the deals are of the same value or whether money will be left over in the years ahead for other sponsorships. Vodafone is a big sponsor of Ferrari in F1 but the word in F1 circles is that the company will be switching to the Honda F1 team in 2007.
