Newey to Red Bull Racing

There are reports in The Independent newspaper in London that McLaren's Adrian Newey is to join Red Bull Racing, when his contract with McLaren expires in January. Newey has been the most successful F1 designer of the modern era, winning a string a World Championships with Williams in 1990s before moving to McLaren and masterminding success with Mika Hakkinen and Kimi Raikkonen.

Newey had been talking about a return to Williams but it seems that the offer from Red Bull convinced him to join the team.

The arrival of Newey is likely to confuse matters at Red Bull somewhat as Mark Smith has only recently become technical director, replacing Gunther Steiner. It is not yet clear how Newey will fit into this structure.
