A big crash for Heinz-Harald

Former Grand Prix winner Heinz-Harald Frentzen is in hospital in Mannheim following a big accident at the final round of the DTM series at Hockenheim yesterday. The 38-year-old has concussion, multiple bruises and muscle strains in his neck after an apparent mechanical failure resulted in his Opel Vectra crashing sideways into the barriers. He was taken to the circuit medical centre and then helicoptered to hospital in Ludwigshafen, where he remained under observation on Monday. It is expected that he will remain in hospital for a day or so.

Frentzen remembers nothing of the accident.

The 38-year-old was in his final race with Opel, as the GM affiliate has now pulled out of DTM.
