Fisichella ruins the story

Giancarlo Fisichella ruined the story of the season at Suzuka on Saturday mornming when he pipped Narain Karthikeyan to the fastest time of the session in wet conditions. The Jordan driver has surprised everyone by going fastest ahead of Ralf Schumacher, Jenson Button, Christijan Albers and Tiago Monteiro, indicating that in the conditions the Bridgestone tyres definitely had an advantage over Michelin. But after the flag had fallen Fisichella powered his Renault around to take the fastest time of the morning by 0.014s.

In normal circumstances Ferrari would have been on top but as Michel Schumacher's car was being repaired after a shunt and Rubens Barrichello did only five laps it was left to Jordan and Minardi to provide a story.

The Bridgestone teams will be hoping for the same weather conditions on Sunday.
