New grandstands in Barcelona
The rise of Fernando Alonso has caused Formula 1 interest to boom in Spain. The Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona has been taking advantage of this success in recent years and has been increasing its crowd capacity each year and has just announced that it is adding another 5476 seats for next year, to bring the total of seats to 71,609 and the track capacity to around 125,000. This is still small potatoes when one considers the crowd capacity figures at places like Indianapolis Motor Speedway (which can house around 400,000 people) but it is a step in the right direction.
The important thing is to find the right level of pricing to keep the grandstands of Europe full.
