Bernie Ecclestone, the man who has run F1 with an iron fist in recent years, seems to have converted to democracy in recent days, saying that "I want the teams to own the sport". One must presume that what he means is that he wants the teams and the Ecclestone Family to own the sport in the future. This is an interesting turn of events as the teams are thinking along different lines as, although they acknowledge what Ecclestone has done for them, they want to maximise the profits in the years ahead and are looking at ways of running the business without Bernie. Their aim, it seems, is to buy out the banks and get on with it.
