Technical Directors meet at Indianapolis
The F1 technical directors met after practice in Indianapolis on Saturday morning to discuss the problems with Michelin tyres and it seems that the decision has been taken to run the cars in qualifying with higher tyre pressure. After that things are less clear. Michelin will be flying in new tyres - the compound will be as used in Barcelona - and it is then a matter of finding a way to resolve the political problems involved. This will mean that the FIA will have to agree to allow a change of tyres on Sunday morning and it may be that Bridgestone teams will be offered the chance to switch rubber as well so that the cars start the race on new tyres. At the moment the details of these discussions are not yet clear and the story is developing. Qualifying will go ahead as planned.
