Kovalainen on pole for Monaco GP2
Finland's Heikki Kovalainen took pole for the Monaco GP2 race on Friday, grabbing the top spot by just 0.09s from Gimmi Bruni. Britain's Adam Carroll was third fastest and will start third alongside Olivier Pla. America's Scott Speed is fifth with local hero Clivio Piccione sixth.
There was drama with Nelson Piquet Jr who was taken out by Can Artam and so did not set a competitive time. Jose Maria Lopez was also in trouble with mechanical dramas but the organisers agreed to allow all the drivers to start, despite the fact that four failed to qualify within 107% of the pole man.
