The future of Mr E

Bernie Ecclestone rarely says something to the media without a reason behind it and so it is interesting to note that he has been telling the British press that he believes tennis needs to be reorganised and that he and Flavio Briatore considered a bid to buy Chelsea Football Club in London. Not surprisingly the remarks have been widely reported in Britain, where soccer is bigger news even than election campaigns.

A switch to another sport seems most unlikely given Bernie's longtime links and enthusiasm for F1 which makes some think that somewhere in all of this there is a message being sent to the F1 banks that they may have to consider running the sport without him unless they agree to let him do things his way.

We do not expect to see Mr E disappearing off to another sport.
