World Series wins for Toccacelo and Kubica

The new Renault World Series kicked off at Zolder on Sunday with wins going to Enrico Toccacelo (Victory Engineering) and Robert Kubica (Epsilon Euskadi). In the first race Toccacelo left from pole to finish and was chased home by Andreas Zuber (Carlin Motorsport) and Kubica.

The second race resulted in victory for Kubica after he chose a different strategy to the other frontrunners. The race was led initially by Toccacelo with Will Power (Carlin) chasing, ahead of Jaap Van Lagen (KTR). The Australian made a mistake, however, and so Van Lagen moved to second. Kubica decided to go for an early mandatory pit stop and when the stops were over he was leading Toccacelo and Markus Winkelhock (Draco Multiracing USA) and Van Lagen. The last-named spun off soon afterwards and Toccacelo then went off and dropped back and so Toccacelo ended up winning from Zuber and Winkelhock.
