Hamilton on pole at Hockenheim

Lewis Hamilton (ASM F3, Dallara-Mercedes) took pole position for the opening round of the Formula 3 Euroseries at Hockenheim ahead of his team mate Adrian Sutil. The pair were followed by Giedo van der Garde (Team Rosberg Dallara-Opel) and Paul di Resta (Manor Motorsport Dallara-Mercedes). The last-named will start the second race from pole position having recorded the fastest time in the second qualifying session. The final session was an exciting one as the track was drying throughout.

Meanwhile at Spa the British Formula 3 series qualifying resulted in pole in the first session for Carlin Motorsport's Alvaro Parente in awet-dry session. In the second session Steven Kane took his first F3 pole, driving his Lola in the wet to beat Ryan Lewis and Charlie Kimball.
