Pakistan launches A1 Grand Prix bid

President Pervez Musharraf was present on Monday for the launch of Team Pakistan in the new A1 Grand Prix series. The launch took place at Lahore Fort with the announcement that Nur B Ali, a graduate of the Skip Barber Racing School who has raced in Formula Mazda in the United States will drive for the team, which is being led by Arif Husain. A1 boss Sheikh Maktoum drove an A1 car on the streets of Lahore during the launch in front of a crowd estimated at around 15,000 people.

A1 has also announced that the Indian franchise has been sold to the Gupta family, which owns the Sahara Computer Group.
