Williams admits that the new car is not as quick as it might be

Williams admits that it has been having problem with the aerodynamics of the new car - but a fix is on the way for Melbourne. The drivers have reported that the new car does not have the rear aerodynamic grip that had been hoped but it seems that there is a simple solution to the problem - although we are not quite sure what this is. Williams is a team which is famously cautious about pre-season boasts and Frank Williams says that the initial chance of victory is "slim" but adds that the team will improve. Williams believes that Renault and McLaren will lead the way this year.

Patrick Head also admits that the team is "behind where we thought we would be" but says that the car is reliable.
