Pizzonia and the American market

Antonio Pizzonia was testing for Williams this week in Spain but his manager Jayme Brito has disappeared off to America once again to try to sort out a drive as it seems there is no deal at the moment over a third drive at Williams - and it seems unlikely that there will be as Williams cannot offer Pizzonia much in either 2005 or 2006. The next best thing to a Formula 1 drive is a seat with the best team in Champ Car racing and it seems that Carl Haas is willing to run a third car for Pizzonia if he has the money to do it. We understand that a budget can be found for Pizzonia to race alongside Sebastien Bourdais and Bruno Junqueira.

There are other opportunities such as a third car with Forsythe of the second seat at HVM but there is little logic in doing either of these if a Newman Haas Racing deal is on offer.
