Jani gets Racing Engineering deal
Red Bull supported Swiss driver Neel Jani has been signed to drive alongside Spanish F3 champion Borja Garcia in the Racing Engineering GP2 team. The team is expected to have backing from Repsol and Red Bull. Jani (21) has been the Sauber test driver in recent year but was recently signed up by Red Bull and is believed to be the man who could take over Friday testing at Grands Prix if Christian Klien loses his racing seat to Vitantonio Liuzzi and is unable to switch to the test driver role because of the rule which forbids drivers with recent F1 experience to be the test driver at races. However we believe that the GP2 rules have a clause which means that GP2 drivers cannot get involved in F1 activities and so if Jani does get the role he would have to give up his racing this year.
