Gary Anderson and Midland

It has been assumed in recent weeks that Gary Anderson will be the new technical director at Jordan but it seems that these stories were not correct at all. The 53-year-old Ulsterman is working as a consultant engineer with Dallara in Italy but it seems that he is doing this on a part-time basis and is otherwise enjoying his retirement from F1 circles in Britain and in France, where he also has a house. Anderson's name was first linked to Midland back in the autumn and it seems that stories have snowballed from there.

Anderson was technical director of Jordan (1991-1998) and Stewart (1998-1999) and then after a period in America returned to Jordan in 2002 and 2003 helping out technical director Henri Durand. In 2004 he popped up at a number of races working a TV reporter for Irish television but showed no obvious desire to be back in F1 and it seems that the confusion between Dallara and Midland has led to the stories which have been published of late.

For the moment therefore the Jordan team does not have a technical director.
