Smith leaving Jordan

Mark Smith is reported to have left Jordan Grand Prix, just a matter weeks after he joined the team. Smith was previously employed at Renault but left to join Jordan when he was offered the job of technical director. Since the takeover of Jordan by Midland F1 a number of the existing Jordan engineers deciding to move on. There have long been rumours that Smith would end up working for Mike Gascoyne at Toyota but it remains to be seen whether or not he moves to Germany.

It is worth noting incidentally that Gary Anderson is not going to be technical director at Jordan under the new management. According to our sources in Italy Anderson is purely a part-time consultant with Dallara and apparently has no intention of coming back to F1 fulltime.
