McLaren going with a third car

McLaren has confirmed that it will take advantage of the rules and run a third car this year. The team gains this bonus because it underperformed badly in 2004 and finished outside the top four in the Constructors' World Championship.

"We have two excellent development drivers in Alexander Wurz and Pedro de la Rosa," Ron Dennis said. "They are both very talented guys and both have renewed confidence in their abilities. At some appropriate stage, but not yet, we will decide which driver actually participates in the initial races. There will be an initial commitment, probably the first four races."

The team says it wants an experienced driver who understands tyre and chassis development and can give good feedback in the limited time available.

Sounds like the perfect job for Mika Hakkinen.
