Jordan and Midland

There are stories circulating that the deal between Jordan Grand Prix and Midland F1 has been signed but for the moment at least there is no official confirmation. The stories suggest that the deal has been necessary because the team was facing credit problems which were affecting its ability to build a car for 2005. There have been plenty of rumours in recent months that Jordan has been short of cash but whether this was sufficient to push Jordan to sell remains to be seen. According to the stories we have heard Jordan will keep its name this year and will become Midland F1 in 2006.

Doing the deal now does not make a lot of sense because of the ongoing negotiations over the future of the sport which could net Jordan a considerable amount of money.
