Caborn opens new Silverstone Innovation Centre

Richard Caborn, the British Minister of Sport, has opened an $8m Innovation Centre at the Silverstone Technology Park, a joint venture between track owner, the British Racing Drivers' Club, and the East Midlands Development Agency. The centre is designed to nurture new businesses in the motorsport industry.

"Developing the motorsport industry is about growing sustainable and quality jobs as well," he said. "This is the first step in a real consolidation of 'Motorsport Valley'. Bringing the sport and industry together is very important. We have a vested interest in ensuring that this centre is successful.

The building will house up to 40 engineering start-up companies (if they can be found) in addition to more established motorsport companies.
