Campos signs Argentina's rising star Juan Cruz Alvarez

Former Grand Prix driver Adrian Campos, who nurtured the career of Fernando Alonso, has another new star on his books and will be running a car in the new GP2 series for 19-year-old Juan Cruz Alvarez from Arrecifes, a town in Argentina which has already produced two Grand Prix drivers Froilan Gonzalez, the first man to win a World Championship Grand Prix in a Ferrari, and more recently (and less successfully) Norberto Fontana. Alvarez came to Europe in 2003 thanks to the support of the Automovil Club Argentino, which has a long tradition off sending its best drivers to Europe, dating back to the days of Juan Manuel Fangio and Gonzalez. In his first season Alvarez won the World Series Lights championship and this year debuted in the Nissan World Series and ended the year with three podium finishes. His new deal with Campos is for two years.
